Building Consensus. 3rd SA AIDS Conference. 05-08/6/7
Lyn’s Comment: attended the 3rd SA Aids conference in Durban from 5-8 June on behalf of CARIS:
Being one of more than 4000 people at the 3rd SA AIDS Conference is an exciting experiences, particularly as there is a much more visible presence of the faith-based sector. I count at least 18 poster presentations by Christian organisations and we are also very excited by the first faith-based satellite meeting to be held on Thursday. Read the invitation and programme of this session below.
It is impossible for me to give a comprehensive report of a conference as big as this one. If you would like more detail, please visit the Health-e website.
The Southern Africa HIV and AIDS Information Dissemination Service produced a newsletter featuring debates and articles coming out of the Conference. This Newsletter is available below (PDF 83KB).
I share some of my first impressions, the conference declaration and resolutions, as well as a selection of articles from other media. You can also download Archbishop Njongonkulu Ndungane's presentation for the Nkosi Johnson Lecture below.
The HIV & AIDS and STI STRATEGIC PLAN FOR SOUTH AFRICA 2007-2011 was formally launched at the conference. You can download the Plan below
