KZN Facilitators Refresher 7-9 October 2011 held at Kenosis Retreat Centre
The Refresher was held in KZN at the venue called Kenosis Retreat Centre in Pietermaritzburg from 7-9 October 2011. We were hosted by a lovely couple Graeme and Elly Willis together with their staff.
The venue was excellent for the refresher as it was peaceful and away from the hustle and bustle of the city. We had a picturesque view of the town of Pietermaritzburg as the venue was on top of a hill. It was a blessing to see all the facilitators who turned up for the refresher, even though the turnout was very low, those who turned up made it worthwhile for us. We were surrounded by dedicated and committed individuals who want to continue making a difference in their communities in their response to HIV and AIDS.
The refresher started on a high as everyone was eager to learn and share with us on their journeys with HIV and Saturday in particular was a very blessed day for us as a group as we also focused at what it means to become HIV competent faith community in our response to HIV and AIDS.
The group shared on their experiences since they were trained by CABSA and the challenges they have faced in their journeys with HIV. We were also blessed to have mama Madika also attending the KZN refresher having travelled all the way from Queenstown in the Eastern Cape, she was an inspiration to the whole group.
We ended up with everyone committing themselves to continue being channels of hope as we were encouraged by each person stories and the networking amongst the group has also helped us to go back into our communities with renewed hope.
