Windhoek — Committed Artists of Namibia is currently staging its knockout educational AIDS-play, The Trumpet Player, at more schools in the Hardap Region, courtesy of a generous donation by the Bank Windhoek Arts Festival.

This is the second time CAN is staging its internationally acclaimed work in the south.

The Trumpet Player has already been staged at 170 local tertiary institutions, primary and secondary schools as well as festivals in Namibia, South Africa and Finland.

More than 100 000 learners of an estimated 500 000 in the country have already benefited from the play's performances in the country.

"Though constantly receiving many requests from Namibian schools and other educational institutions in outlying villages and settlements, we can only stage the play if and when money permits, primarily from the country's private sector. We will continue doing that as long as possible," said the organizing secretary of CAN, Felicity Celento, in a press statement.

Last week the Bank Windhoek-sponsored play was staged at schools in small communities such as Tsumis Park, Duineveld and Hoachanas.

This week schools at Kalkrand, Aranos, Stampriet, Witkrans, Schlip, Rietoog. Karanas and Klein Aub will be visited with the play.
