Following the recent statistics that placed Niger State at the 10th position of states with high prevalence of HIV/AIDS with a total of 300,000 affected persons, the state yesterday said it has set aside N30.1 million to fight the scourge.

The state's Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Dr Sule Baba, who spoke after the executive council meeting, said the money would be used for the procurement of HIV test kits and drugs. He however pointed out that acquiring the drugs is not enough, adding that it is important for the people to take their drugs religiously.
