Eleven organisations have received over sh500b from the US, to be disbursed over five years

Kampala — Eleven organisations have received over sh500b from the US, to be disbursed over five years. The grant awarded through the United States Centre for Disease Control (US CDC), are part of the US President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).

"The US Mission looks forward to renewed and strengthened collaboration with the Government of Uganda, local and international organisations, and development partners as we work to support the health of Ugandans." Deputy Head of Mission Virginia Blaser said.

Organisations to benefit from the money are Reach Out Mbuya HIV/AIDS Initiative, Infectious Disease Institute), Baylor College of Medicine Uganda, Program for Accessible Health Communication and Education, Protecting Families Against HIV/AIDS, Mildmay Uganda, Makerere University School of Medicine, Baylor College of Medicine, African Medical Research Foundation, the National Medical Stores and the Uganda Blood Transfusion Services.
