BIG Brother Africa star Munyaradzi Chidzonga will tomorrow join the United States ambassador and a host of other local celebrities and sports personalities for a public HIV test as part of activities marking this year's World Aids Day.

Munya is riding high with his movie, Lobola, that premiered last week and was well-attended by fans, which cut across the economic and political divide.

Six other young Zimbabwean celebrities will be part of the Aids awareness campaign, where they are expected to join Munya and the US Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Charles Ray, as part of the US series of events to mark World Aids Day.

Other celebrities and sports personalities will include musicians Alexio Kawara and Edith Katiji; Premier League soccer players Norman Maroto (Gunners Football Club), Washington Arubi and Desmond Maringwa (both of Dynamos Football).

The commemorations will culminate in the annual Auxillia Chimusoro Awards ceremony that has been slated for Thursday at a city hotel.

"The awards, which include cash, will be given to individuals judged to have excelled in communication, leadership, social investment and any outstanding works that have made a remarkable impact in Zimbabwean society in mitigating the effects and impact of HIV and Aids," the US embassy said in a statement.

Other events that the US embassy would hold will include a female soccer tournament to be held at Churchill High School today.

The football match will see two teams -- Mufakose 1 High and Glen View -- battle for supremacy against ARV Swallows and the Bulldogs Sports Development Soccer Ambassadors team.
